The Level 4 Diploma in Business Management is a 120 credits qualification, designed to provide an introduction to the main facets and operations of organisations. It introduces the challenges faced by modern-day businesses. The Qualification focuses on developing understanding, skills and abilities to equip the Learner with the awareness and attitudes to be an effective organisational manager and leader.
Level 4 Diploma in Business Management aims for the following:
To enable Learners to apply analytical and evaluative techniques to business in private and public sectors
To enhance analytical and evaluative skills relating to business across a number of industries
To develop the Learner’s ability to recognise and reflect on the process of personal learning and development which facilitates the enhancement of key personal, sociable and other transferable skills
To encourage the Learner’s self-reflection, analytical, intellectual and transferable skills
By the end of Level 4 Diploma in Business Management, learners will be able to:
apply analytical and evaluative techniques and to enhance those skills;
investigate issues and opportunities;
develop their awareness and appreciation of managerial, organisational and environmental issues;
use management techniques and practices in imaginative ways;
make use of relevant information from different sources;
develop and encourage problem-solving and creativity to tackle problems and challenges;
exercise judgement, own and take responsibility for decisions and actions; and
develop the ability to recognise and reflect on personal learning and improve their personal, social and other transferable skills.
Learners need to complete six units to achieve the full Level 4 Diploma in Business Management. Total Qualification Time (TQT) to complete the full qualification is 1200 hours. While, Guided Learning Hours (GLH) refers to the amount of study undertaken by learners under the direction of their tutors and it includes tutorials, seminars, workshops, directed research, project or assignment. There are 480 Guided Learning Hours for the Level 4 Certificate in Business Management. It is expected that a learner will need to complete following TQT against each unit to complete the full Level 4 Certificate in Business Management.
The vocational and applied nature of the qualification means that different types of learners would benefit from attending a programme of study and achieving the qualification. Learners who have recently completed compulsory education and have chosen to follow a career in business management or a related vocation will be able to acquire the fundamental skills and knowledge to successfully enter the workplace. Whereas, those already in employment will be able to build on existing workplace competencies which will provide an opportunity to make an immediate and positive impact on an organisation and how it conducts its business. In addition, obtaining Level 4 Diploma in Business Management would be beneficial for those who are re-entering employment after a period of absence and for those who are seeking a career change.
Learners completing the Level 4 Certificate in Business Management will allow progress to:
the Level 5 Diploma in Business Management, or
Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Business Administration or
the second year of undergraduate study in business management or
directly into employment in an associated profession.
Accreditation of Level 4 Diploma in Business Management
Level 4 Certificate in Business Management is an internationally recognised Qualification, equivalent to UK University Year 1. It is accredited in the UK onto Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at Level 4 and onto European Qualifications Framework (EQF) at Level 5. Level 4 Certificate in Business Management is regulated by Ofqual and awarded by Qualifi Ltd.
Each unit is assessed through an assignment of minimum 1500/2500 words in length. Students are required to achieve 40% marks to pass the unit.
